About Dining Abode

The dining abode concept was born when award winning chef, Thomas Johns, decided to bring his many years of experience and expertise in fine dining to the catering industry.

From this, evolved the idea to create a truly bespoke, private dining and premium catering service, that brings a unique restaurant quality experience to every event- be it an intimate dinner, cocktail party, corporate event, boardroom lunch or wedding.

Thomas Johns founded dining abode over 10 years ago, growing it into one of Sydney’s premium catering companies. In that time, dining abode has catered corporate events such as the prestigious “The Greats” art exhibition at UNSW, Jurlique’s 30th anniversary, as well as the Hot Expo for 10,000 guests at the ICC Sydney. dining abode’s corporate clients include Jurlique, Spotify, Ernst & Young, Paramount Pictures, Moogoo Skin Care, Mirvac and Trish Nichol PR Agency.

About Our Services

In addition to providing tailored, contemporary, innovative menus to suit any event, be it private dining, drop-off catering, corporate function or wedding, dining abode also provides comprehensive event and styling services. This includes everything from working with our Event Planner to create styling concepts to floral arrangements to full event theming.

Hire equipment is available upon request including AV equipment, furniture hire, theming accessories, offsite kitchen set-up, special crockery, linen, bar set-up, glassware and more. dining abode has catered & provided comprehensive planning services for many high-end weddings at properties in & around Sydney, & is a preferred caterer at several venues, including Ooralba Estate, Dennarque Estate, Vaucluse Yacht Club & Hawkesbury Country Retreat.

Beverage packages are available and the dining abode team can also create a customised beverage package to suit different budgets and events. dining abode’s professional onsite sommelier is also available upon request. Previously the owner of Pello Restaurant, which was awarded two Chef’s Hats for two consecutive years, Thomas’ modern European approach was a departure from the traditional Italian offerings associated with Stanley Street. Since then, Thomas honed his talent to create the dining abode concept specialising in private dining and premium catering.

Our Menu Inspiration

Thomas and his team draw inspiration from a variety of sources including seasonal influences, current trends within the industry, global chefs which allows them to customise menus for the dining abode clientele.

When designing the menus for dining abode Thomas Johns always uses fresh seasonal ingredients (& where possible local). The fish is hand picked by Thomas at the fish markets for each occasion & he regularly attends the local growers markets to source produce for each event.

Thomas’ drive and passion for the ever evolving culinary world also finds him spending time at Sydney’s leading kitchens, learning about the latest trends and the newest, exciting ingredients to adapt to his menus.

dining abode offers a range of menus encompassing different styles of dining and events including corporate menus, wedding menus, sharing platters for a more informal approach, cold buffet selections, themed food stations for added theatre, styled dessert stands, private dining 3 course menu, 4 course menu and 8 course degustation. Also on offer is the ‘ultimate menu’ where you hand-pick your 10 favourite ingredients and let dining abode create a spectacular 12 course degustation based on your selections. For a more informal approach, try the sharing menu, where the dining abode signature style can be enjoyed around the table with sharing platters.

The dining abode experience is a fully comprehensive service with every element taken care of for you for any occasion be it a wedding, corporate event, product launch, cocktail party, private dinner or client entertaining. From bespoke menus created by Thomas and served by experienced waitstaff to full clean up, dining abode replicates a quality restaurant experience in your surrounds.
